after serving in the great war, siegmar had his own gunsmithing operation near düsseldorf up until 1938. At the height of the rearming of the wehrmact, he was once again called upon by his nation to serve... this time to develop a better version of the k98 mauser. for the first 4 years of the war, he labored to put recovered pieces of k98's back together into functioning weapons. finally, after deciding he could better serve the reich, he volunteered to serve with the newly formed 10th ss panzerdivision "frundsberg". he is obviously now the units primary weaponsmith.
